Change your Windows and Microsoft Account Password

This article talks through the steps to follow to change your password on your laptop which will then sync to your Microsoft account

Choose your new password

All passwords must adhere to the following complexity rules:  

·        Minimum length of 12 characters

·        Contain both upper- and lower-case characters. 

·        Be a mixture of alphanumerical characters. 

·       Contain special characters. 

      ·     Be different from the last 5 passwords you're used 

To create a strong password, DO the following: 

• Use a combination of upper, lower, numerical and special characters and use a minimum length of 12 characters. 
• Use a passphrase, made up of 3 random words (of at least 4 characters each) which are unrelated and add a numerical and special character e.g. !BlueTriangleLizard23. 
• Use a unique password for each account. Also, make your company and personal passwords different. 

To create a strong password, DON'T DO the following: 

• Use personal information, such as relatives or pets names in your passwords. This information is usually easy for a hacker to find online, making it easier for them to guess your password. 
• Write your passwords down, this includes in email, Teams or SMS message or sticky notes on your desk.

Change your password

1. Switch on your UniFi Identity VPN - click this link if you're now sure how to do this
   
2. Press 'Crtl+Alt+Delete' 
   
3. Select "Change a password" from the options list
   
4. Enter your old password
   
5. Enter your new password - make sure it meets the password requirements set out above
   
6. 
   
   
7. Confirm your new password
   
8. You'll then see a confirmation page advising that the password has been changed
   
9. Switch off your UniFi Identity VPN - click this link if you're now sure how to do this
   

Sign in to Microsoft

After a couple of minutes, you will see this notice on your MS Teams

You will now need to sign in with your new password and completed the Multi-Factor Authenication (MFA) again to access your Microsoft account.
