Guidance for making staff photos and update to Teams app and Windows
Your photo will be used on Buttercups internal HR, IT systems
and on ID badge. Please read this guidance and upload photo accordingly. You
might be asked to provide photo again if it’s incorrect.
Part A: Rules of staff photo
The quality of your digital photo must be:
- clear and in focus
- in
colour
- 600 pixels wide and 750 pixels tall
- at
least 50KB and no more than 10MB
- saved as a .jpg or .jpeg
What your digital photo must show:
- contain no other objects or people
- be
taken against a plain background
- be in
clear contrast to the background
- not
have ‘red eye’
In the photo you must:
- be
facing forwards and looking straight at the camera
- have
a plain expression or you can smile
- have
your eyes open and visible
- not
have hair in front of your eyes
- not
have anything covering your face
- not
have any shadows on your face or behind you
Do not wear sunglasses. You can wear other glasses if you
need to, but your eyes must be visible without any glare or reflection
Part B: Taking and making photos
- Take portrait photos using laptop camera or
phone with as less background as possible
- A: Using
3rd party website to re-size and remove background
- Go to https://photobooth.online/en-gb/british-id-photo
either on laptop or on the phone
- Click “Upload Photo free” button and choose the photo to upload
- Wait until the process is finished, click “Get Digital Photo” to save it in your laptop or photo
- Note: You might be asked to retake photo if it can’t pass the initial check
B: Resize
and remove using Paint (free tool on Windows laptop)
Example- Open photo in Paint
- Click Rectangular selection tool and crop photo according
to the style of example (make approximate
ration to 6:7.5)
- Click Resize and change ratio to 600 pixels
in width x 750 pixels in height
- Paint white colour in background avoid touching person
- Save the photo to your laptop and upload to
Teams profile
Part C: Uploading photo to Teams
- Open Teams, click the circuler icon with your initial on top right corner.
- After icon expansion, move curse to the secondary name icon. Click the camera sign which appears inside.
3. Upload the photo you just download/made to your profile and save.
4. Photo will be updated to other office apps after system synced
Part D: Upload photo to Windows
- Open Settings, select Accounts
2. Click Browse for one, upload the downloaded/made photo
